Courtesy Call from The Indonesian Delegation to Banteay Meanchey Provincial Leaders

Banteay Meanchey: The Ambassador of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Cambodia Mr. Sudiman Haseng, accompanied by a delegation, has paid a courtesy call on Banteay Meanchey Provincial Leaders led by Deputy Governor of Banteay Meanchey Province Orm Chanthea and Provincial Governor Mr. Oum Reatrey, together with the participation of relevant departments and units at Banteay Meanchey Provincial Hall on Monday.

The purpose of the courtesy call meeting was to explore the potential of Banteay Meanchey and the work in the field of cooperation between the Banteay Meanchey and Indonesian administration.

The Deputy Governor of Banteay Meanchey Province, also briefed the Indonesian delegation on the actual situation in the past since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the world. The Kingdom of Cambodia, as well as Banteay Meanchey Province, the authorities at all levels strive to pay constant attention to the strict implementation of the Royal Government's regulations as well as the directives of the Ministry of Health by preparing and submitting plans, decisions, and instructions. And the necessary measures of the provincial administration to prevent the spread of Covid-19, especially the Delta variant, which is circulating throughout the country.

He has also informed the delegates about the good relations between Cambodia-Thailand border area, its trade, business and other sectors have developed and turned the border area into a peaceful border area for international operations. The province has two international border crossings, the Poipet International Gate and the newly-opened Stung Bot International Border Gate, as well as two border gates, the Malai Border Gate and the Boeung Trakoun Border Gate. Although the border has been closed, the trade and commerce between the two countries are still operating normally.

The Indonesian Ambassador has praised the progress of Banteay Meanchey and thanked the leadership of Banteay Meanchey for taking care of the Indonesian people who has been living in the province in the past, especially during the epidemic of Covid-19 to help treat Indonesians with Covid-19 positive. He also praised the growing ties between the two countries. With the development of better relations, the delegation has also inspected the potential of Cambodia as well as the province and that there is a strong growth from year to year. In order to contribute to the development of technical human resources, Indonesia has provided scholarships to Cambodian students to study in Indonesia every year, providing opportunities for young Cambodians to gain more knowledge and good skills.

After the meeting, the Banteay Meanchey provincial leaders has presented souvenirs to the Indonesian delegation, and in return, the Indonesian delegation also provided gifts to the Banteay Meanchey provincial administration.
